Community Christmas Preparations

The Creemore Echo

by Brad Holden

Organizers of the Creemore Community Christmas are gearing up for the busiest event in the dinner's seven-year history.

"Usually, attendance goes up by about 10 people per year," said Diane McKay this week. "This time, it took a bigger jump."

As of Wednesday, 82 people had signaled their intention to attend the event, which aims to give all members of the community equal opportunity for good food and fellowship on Christmas Day. On top of that, McKay has had great response from people hoping to volunteer at the dinner.

A Creemore Thing

The Mad & Noisy Gallery is once again encouraging professional and amateur artists to pick up a brush and put their "Creemore-centric" reflections on canvas and on the gallery walls.

"Our first exhibit, just over a year ago, garnered close to 50 entries and such enthusiasm from the community that we offered the challenge again," says gallery president Liz Eakins.

Until the end of December, anyone is welcome to drop into the Mad & Noisy Gallery to purchase a 10" x 10" canvas and frame, and render art in his or her own style on any subject related to life in Creemore. While the canvas format suggests painting and drawings, photographs and sculptures that fit within that frame are equally welcome. A twenty-dollar submission fee pays for the canvas, frame and space on the gallerys feature wall.

All submitted pieces must be for sale and will need to be brought to the gallery by the beginning of January, The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 between 2 and 5 pm. This show ....read more
