No Decision for SCI

Stayner Collegiate Institute lived to see another day Wednesday night when School Board Trustees, plodding their way through a massive meeting agenda, voted to adjourn at 11 pm before they had a chance to debate the school's possible closure.

As a result, a packed house of parents, students and teachers decked out in the regalia of SCI, Elmvale District High School and Penetanguishene Secondary School - the three schools threatened with closure after the Board's Accomodation Review "B" - got to wait for an hour-and-a-half while the Trustees discussed an unrelated issue behind closed doors and then watch as the Trustees debated and passed their final 2009 budget, approved a few tenders and made a final decision regarding Accomodation Review "A," which dealt with high schools in the Orillia area.

The audience was then invited to come back at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 22, when the ARC "B" decision will be first on the agenda.

Clearview Library News

The Creemore Echo

All are invited to eat cake with Lady X and Agent 009 at the Creemore Branch of The Clearview Public Library on Thursday, June 25 at 4 pm. This celebration will be the kick-off for the Library's summer of literacy entertainment, education and fun sponsored by the TD Summer Reading Program, the National Library and Archives of Canada and the Toronto Public Library. Lady X, otherwise known as Glenda Newbatt, the children's program planner, is organizing all sort of activities based on exploring the secrets in the library. Her helpers, two summer students known as Agent P and Agent Q will be presenting these programs at the Stayner, Creemore and Sunnidale branches as well at the halls in Dunedin, Duntroon, Nottawa and Sunnidale Corners. Information about these literacy events will be available at each branch in the very near future.
